HOMEDEC Showhome 2016 – 3-Gen Living & Design
The HOMEDEC Showhome feature, now in its 6th series (initiated since 2012 following different themes), will feature a multi-generational showhome based on the theme 3-Gen Living & Design. This dedicated show unit will be designed by Essential Integrated Design Sdn Bhd (EDI), a multi award-winning local interior design consultant firm.

EDI is the winner of the  MIID REKA HOMEDEC Residential Award (2015) organised by Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID) and the PAM HOMEDEC Residential Renovation  Award (2013 and 2015), jointly organised by Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia/Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) and HOMEDEC.

The 3-Gen Living & Design show unit comprises a clever mix of HOMEDEC Part 1’s renovation-related products and HOMEDEC Part 2’s category of exhibited products dedicated to furnishing and sprucing up the home interior.

The Showhome is located at Hall 5 in both Part 1 and Part 2 of HOMEDEC at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The theme this time around aims to highlight to homeowners and members of the public, developers, architects and interior designers as well as architecture and design students alike, the intrinsic design possibilities of housing different generations under a single roof.

HOMEDEC is organised by Malaysian award-winning professional exhibition organiser C.I.S. Network Sdn Bhd. Its President Vincent Lim said that he is proud to work with award-winning firm EDI. “This time, homeowners get to see another masterpiece throught the work of EDI and its team, as realised in the design of the 3-Gen showhome. The showhome showcases how innovation, using practical designs and innovative products, can invoke an element of curiosity into the space,” said Lim.

HOMEDEC is more than just an exciting marketplace to source for products, but also the annual venue where the feature showhome takes pride of place. This is where reputable designers introduce to visitors the ideas of designs and space planning.” he added.

This year’s showhome combines and even exceeds the elements of fun-and-play and other lifestyle elements by exploring the possibilities of creative design strategies in a multi-generational home. This invokes a sense of curiosity and experimental design features in the showhome. Technological advances that benefit the home is another aspect that can be seen incorporated from the consumer home technology front.

Built as a double-storey unit measuring 4,133 sqft on the premise that spaces needn’t be separated and can be inter-connected visually and designed seamlessly, visitors are able to walk around the dining and living areas, grandparents’ room and laundry area on the ground floor, and climb up to the first floor of the parents and children’s room.

The life-size show unit will be built on-site at the exhibition within 46 hours – a demanding feat as the interior designers and exhibitors work around the clock to ensure the speedy delivery will benefit visitors to the exhibition. Made even more worthwhile is the fact that the designs are planned with exceptional attention to detail – lending the showcase the value-added claim of being at the forefront of trendsetting ideas that will benefit industry stakeholders including exhibitors, professional interior designers and also homeowners themselves.

The showcase is in line with the exhibition’s aim to be an information and knowledge hub for all renovation, refurbishment and redecoration needs.
