IKEA Announces New Good Cause Campaign to Help Children Development Around The World

IKEA, the Swedish home furnishing company recently announced the launch of its new Let’s Play for Change campaign. Established by the IKEA Foundation, the campaign is a global initiative that contributes towards children’s development and learning through the sales of the IKEA Play range.

For every children’s toy, book, game, art & craft and play furniture sold from now until
24 Dec 2016, the IKEA Foundation will donate €1 (approximately RM4.60) to War Child, Save the Children, UNICEF, Room to Read, Handicap International and Special Olympics to enable their projects in support of children’s development and learning around the world.

The Let’s Play for Change campaign will specifically focus on children’s right to play and develop, highlighting the benefits of play for all children.

“At IKEA, we believe that playing is a key part of life development; making us more creative, stronger and more active. As an organisation dedicated to creating a better life at home, it is part of our job to inspire and enable people to play more together.” said IKEA Malaysia.

“It is the right of every child and adult to play, regardless of who they are and where they come from. Our global presence and partnerships with likeminded organisation puts us in a position to help create a better life not only for our customers but also for underprivileged children. Through the Let’s Play for Change campaign, our customers can be part of a noble cause while at the same time enrich their own lives.”

Besides the Let’s Play for Change campaign, IKEA Malaysia is also harnessing the power of giving twice, through its ‘Give Twice’ initiative. Every children’s product dropped into the ‘Give Twice’ boxes, located after the checkout counters, will be matched by IKEA Malaysia. Donations from this programme will go to the Association of Registered Childcare Providers Malaysia, and will be distributed amongst their beneficiaries. Customers can also proceed to the Exchanges and Returns counter if they would like to donate play furniture.

IKEA Play Range
To support the Let’s Play for Change campaign, IKEA is introducing the IKEA Play range to motivate children to develop their social skills and logical thinking through role play, imagination, creativity and movement. The range includes baby and children’s items such as toys, books, games, arts & craft and play furniture. The range will also include soft toys created from the winning designs of ten (10) children from countries around the world which were selected at the beginning of this year.
