BookXcess is Committed in Rebuilding the Communities and Nation with the Power of Imagination Through Books
BookXcess, the sister company of Big Bad Wolf Books, is a local bookstore that supplies its customers with discounted price books of 50% - 80% off all year round. With a mission to allow brand new quality English books affordable and accessible to all, BookXcess offers a wide variety of genres such as science-fiction, thriller, literature, young adult, business, cookbooks, art and design, children’s books and many other sought-after books to suit and serve everyone’s taste buds with the aim to spread the joy of reading.
BookXcess understands that during these trying times, Malaysians need to band together to rebuild the community and nation as one. In line with that, BookXcess is launching an initiative, Rebuild Through Reading to rebuild the nation by giving up to RM165 million to Malaysians. Each and every Malaysian will have the opportunity to redeem RM5 with no minimum spend from any BookXcess bookstores or BookXcess Online from 13 May 2020 to 14 June 2020. Customers can visit bookxcessonline.com and apply the code BXRM5 at checkout to enjoy RM5 off their bill or redeem their RM5 by visiting any of the 9 BookXcess bookstores located in 5 different states. Visitors to any BookXcess bookstores can be rest assured that due to COVID-19, safety precautions are in place such as limited entry for each store, temperature scanning will be conducted upon entry, hand sanitisers are strategically placed around each store, and compulsory contact tracing procedure.
“BookXcess has always been on the mission to make reading affordable as books can inspire people to chase their dreams as well as empower them with knowledge. Books allow a person to see things from a completely different perspective. Everything that is read fills the mind with new bits of information and can come in handy at any moment. The more knowledge gained, the better-equipped a person is to tackle any challenge they will ever face. With that direction and to change the world one book at a time, the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale was organised in 11 countries and 33 cities but unfortunately with the unprecedented impact of COVID-19, the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale will cease its operations indefinitely in all markets as the safety of our customers, employees and the community are our top priority. We wish to continue the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale’s mission of changing the world one book at a time with the help of our Wolfies by going to BookXcess bookstores and BookXcess Online as we do deliver internationally too,” said Jacqueline Ng, Co-Founder of BookXcess Sdn. Bhd.
“One of the reasons there are so few avid readers in Malaysia is that books are very expensive. Books cost a lot in relation to the average person’s income and this is a barrier for many book lovers. With the current economic situation, it’s even tougher for people to afford a book at the normal pricing. As such, BookXcess’ goal is to make books to become a household item that everyone can afford even during this CMCO period. As much as we are committed to advocating literacy, we also believe that education should not be a privilege. It is our commitment to rebuild the communities through our Corporate Social Responsibility arm, Red Readerhood which is designed to donate brand new, quality books to the underprivileged.”, shared Andrew Yap, Co-Founder of BookXcess Sdn. Bhd.
Red Readerhood is rebuilding the communities by working together with local organisations to donate books to those in need as everyone should have access to books and learning, regardless of their status. Recently, BookXcess has partnered with Protect and Save the Children (PSC) where 1,000 books worth approximately RM25,000 were donated to children of Refugee Community, single-parent, B40 children and orphanages. The children will have access to quality English books and be able to read, colour and play with the books.
Along with launching Rebuild Through Reading campaign, BookXcess is implementing a 48 hours books delivery service for selected area; Subang Jaya, Puchong, Klang and Shah Alam starting from 14 May at regular shipping rate with no extra cost. In addition to all the initiatives and to spread the joy of reading, BookXcess is planning to launch two bookstores in the next few months.
Customers are encouraged to stay updated to find out more on BookXcess’ latest books, updates and promotions via BookXcess and Big Bad Wolf Books’ social media sites.
