Sunway TES’s 20-year-old student, Tan Yi Xuan achieved the highest worldwide score (99%) for Tax Compliance during the June 2021 Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) Professional Level examinations, in addition to achieving highest worldwide score for Audit and Assurance in March 2021.
ICAEW is the largest professional accountancy body in Europe, with over 147,000 members in 160 countries.
The ICAEW Chartered Accountant qualification, the ACA, is one of the most advanced learning and professional development programmes available, and is recognised and valued in practice, industry, commerce and the public sector.

Yi Xuan’s secret to her success was hard work and determination. She spent many hours every day studying and practicing as she believed the amount of time and effort poured in will produce the result you desire.
“Sunway TES’ excellent and helpful lecturers have been a significant factor to my success in ICAEW examinations,” shared Yi Xuan as she mentioned the effective way of teaching and lecturers’ personalized notes aside from the textbooks proves the dedication by lecturers despite the challenges of online teaching.
After a successful internship experience at KPMG last year, Yi Xuan has received and accepted the offer from the company, and will be starting her career in the audit department early next year.
“Working in audit might be stressful but best place to learn and gain experience,” said Yi Xuan while sharing her intent to pursue further study in the future.
“Yi Xuan is truly an exceptional student, with keen interest in accountancy, dedication and the courage to ask questions,” shared Mr Simon Kok Siew Yoon, Tax Lecturer of ICAEW from Sunway Tes.
Mr Simon Kok is Yi Xuan’s favourite lecturer and main guidance to her 99% score for Tax Compliance subject. He also shared that an ICAEW graduate now does not deal with just numbers, but with people as well. “Interpersonal and leadership skills are as equally important as giving professional financial advice in a Chartered Accountant’s career,” he said.
Sunway TES CAE’s ICAEW successes are further demonstrated as they managed to surpass World Pass Rate for all six professional level modules in June 2021 examinations for both full time and part time students.
The pass rates for full time and part time are 93.70% and 80% for Financial Accounting and Reporting; 94.10% and 90.90% for Audit and Assurance; 88.70% and 84.61% for Financial Management; 95% and 86.66% for Tax Compliance; 100% and 100% for Business Strategy and Technology; 90% and 100% for Business Planning respectively.
