Sunway University Reaching out to the Community during this Ramadan

 As part of the Campus With A Conscience initiative, the Sunway University Young Chefs Club from the School of Hospitality and Service Management once again embraced the spirit of giving with the Ramadan Community Activation for the second consecutive year. 

In addressing Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) SDG 1 – No Poverty and SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, Sunway University Young Chefs Club prepared a total of 900 servings of bubur lambuk and delivered to Rumah Kanak-kanak ini diSayangi (KIDS) and Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (RACTAR), staff and students from Sunway University and Sunway College. The Bubur Lambuk dish was prepared by the Sunway University Young Chefs with the help and recipe of Chef Boobalan Arumugam, Vice Chairman of CSR, Professional Culinaire Association. 

Recently, the School of Hospitality and Service Management recently elevated in the QS World University Rankings by Subjects 2022 within the 101 - 150 band for the Hospitality and Leisure Management subject. 

Louis Choo, President of the Sunway University Young Chefs Club mentioned, “At Sunway University, we value and care for the community the live in. I’m thankful to be given a wonderful opportunity to give back to our society. We very much hope that this positive engagement will bring positive influence to the community and be a blessing to those who are in need.” 

“Campus With A Conscience has become an integral part of our community life at the Sunway Education Group and this Ramadan Community Activation is part of the outreach plans to interact and support our community. We very much hope that these positive engagements will have a direct influence on the community, the environment as well as social welfare issues. They are also wonderful opportunities for our students to give back to society,” said Angela Chiew, Branding Manager of Sunway Education Group. 

16 year-old Raveen Raj from Rumah KIDS shared that small gestures of kindness do go a long way he was happy and thankful to have received the bubur lambuk.
