Following the deep dive of OnePlus 10T 5G’s design, camera, and performance, Kinder Liu, Head of R&D Department of OnePlus, unveils today the super-fast charging capabilities of the premium flagship smartphone that will be launched globally on the 3rd August.
The epitome of its tagline ‘Evolve Beyond Speed’, the OnePlus 10T 5G delivers the fast and smooth experience not just on the performance front, but also charging. This arrives in the form of the 150W SUPERVOOC Endurance Edition, which is capable of taking its large 4,800 mAh battery from 1-100% in just 19 minutes. With merely 10 minutes of charging, users can enjoy a day’s worth of power as they use the device the way they want without being tied to a power outlet.
Accompanying the incredibly speedy charging, the OnePlus 10T 5G also supports a breadth of features that ensure its charging is safe and is managed intelligently. This begins with the Battery Health Engine – an exclusive technology that powers two key features – the Smart Battery Health Algorithm and Battery Healing Technology – designed to extend the lifespan, and preserve the capacity, of the device’s battery. This ensures the battery of the device retains at least 80% of its original capacity after 1,600 150W SUPERVOOC Endurance Edition charge cycles, which is equivalent to four years of usage.
The Smart Battery Health Algorithm can track and control the maximum charging current, keeping it within a safe range to reduce the probability of dead lithium cells, thereby extending the battery’s lifespan significantly. This feature goes hand-in-hand with Battery Healing Technology, that allows electrodes to be continuously repaired during charging cycles, reducing the damage done to anodes and cathodes in the device’s battery to, again, preserve its capacity. Both technologies work to ensure the battery of the device stays healthier for longer.
To bolster the safety features during charging, the OnePlus 10T 5G is also equipped with a dual charge pump, VFC trickle charging optimisation algorithm, and a customised Smart Charging Chip. The trio of systems works together to improve efficiency and reduce the amount of heat emitted throughout the charging process.
With the dual charge pump, when the OnePlus 10T 5G is charging with 150W SUPERVOOC Endurance Edition, each pump provides a 75W charge to the device’s battery. This allows the OnePlus 10T 5G to charge faster with greater safety, improved efficiency, and reduced heat.
On the other hand, the VFC trickle charging optimisation algorithm adjusts the current and voltage of a charge to the accuracy of 100 mA and 10 mV to take charging efficiency even further, as well as reduce heat. This improves the charging efficiency of the last 10% of the device’s battery – from 90-100% - and minimizes the amount of time the OnePlus 10T 5G’s battery spends at 100% to improve its longevity.
As for the Smart Charging Chip of the OnePlus 10T 5G, it recognise the input current and voltage, before delivering an adaptable combination to the battery.
Taking charging safety and efficiency to the next level are the 13 temperature sensors that are also fitted within the OnePlus 10T 5G to detect the device’s charging temperature at any time, further ensuring the device delivers a fast-charging experience that is safe.
Lastly, the OnePlus 10T 5G supports a 128-bit encryption algorithm that recognizes official SUPERVOOC charging adapters and cables so users can only charge at 150W SUPERVOOC Endurance Edition speeds with hardware designed to support it. That is why all OnePlus 10T 5G models come with a 160W SUPERVOOC power adapter and a USB-C cable.
