HAPA® Group has announced its latest partnership with Taylor’s University to expand the HAPA® Awards Series, an international awards programme for the region’s hospitality industry.

Since its inception in 2002, the HAPA® Awards has been designed to set the excellence benchmark in the hospitality industry. The awards celebrate culinary professionals, leaders, entrepreneurs of hospitality and also the unsung heroes and the back-of-house professionals.

“We built the foundation of HAPA® with the core audience primarily of business personalities and entities from the hospitality, F&B, culinary and tourism industries. The collaboration with Taylor’s University is truly a newfound synergy, opening a sensible path in the academic field of similar industries and fostering mutual growth with their international recognition and influence. We are ecstatic to work together with the country’s top university in Hospitality and Tourism towards bringing the HAPA® Awards into a whole new level,” said Jennifer Ong, founder and CEO of HAPA® Group.

Currently, Taylor’s ranks 16th highest in the world for its Hospitality and Leisure Management programme according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022, placing it alongside revered institutions in hospitality education like Switzerland’s Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne and Swiss Hotel Management School, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

“As one of the most established universities in hospitality and tourism management in the world, we aspire to establish the standard and excellence within the industry. We are also an institution dedicated to nurturing highly skilled and employable graduates, and a prestigious industry-academia partnership with HAPA® Awards is most definitely a welcome one. Together, we will play our part as the top in our fields and award the outstanding individual and organisational players in the hospitality, tourism, and culinary sectors,” said Professor Dr Pradeep Nair, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer of Taylor’s University.

“We are pleased to be a part of this partnership to benefit the industry, our students and academics. To elevate the standards of the awards series, we are providing human talents in the form of academic expertise and higher quality research methodologies. Our Hospitality & Events Management students will also be able to gain valuable experience through their role in coordinating the awards and the HAPA®-Taylor’s University hub established at our campus will spawn job creation opportunities for our students and graduates alike,” said Professor Dr Neethiahnanthan Ari Ragavan, Executive Dean of Taylor’s Faculty of Social Sciences and Leisure Management.

The partnership is established to elevate the standards of the awards series through unifying forces, specialising in the areas of Hospitality, F&B, Culinary and Tourism. The collaboration is envisaged to serve as a catalyst for greater growth with the fusion of both entities that serve as a trusted and recognised brand, expansion of human talents, emergence of a networking platform between real industry experiences and a prestigious academic institution as well as creating potent economic drivers through high value job creation and business opportunities.
