MR D.I.Y. and HATI distribute ‘Wang Nilai CNY’ to 14 charitable homes across the country

 With Chinese New Year [CNY] just around the corner, Malaysia’s favourite home improvement retailer wants to ensure that communities in need also have the opportunity to celebrate.  

MR D.I.Y Group {M} Berhad [MR D.I.Y.] has partnered with Persatuan Kebajikan Menyentuh Hati Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Malaysia [HATI],  an organisation that built Malaysia's largest open directory of NGOs and social organisations, to roll out a ‘Wang Nilai CNY’ programme that will see these communities receive angpows and other goodies to mark the season.

The two organisations recently mobilised their volunteers to visit Persatuan Kebajikan Rumah Victory Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, a home for children, youth, and the elderly in Selangor, to celebrate the festive season.  It was a time of fun and merriment as the volunteers hosted games, helped the residents put up Chinese New Year decorations, and hosted ‘Lou Sang’ sessions.  The home also received RM1,000 in MR D.I.Y. cash vouchers to help the home source their everyday essentials. 

Commenting on the festive initiative, MR D.I.Y. Group Head of Marketing, Alex Goh said, “Chinese New Year is all about spending time with family, celebrating the traditions of the Chinese diaspora. Unfortunately, not everyone is blessed to be able to celebrate the traditions with their families, and we wanted to ensure they have a memorable festive season.  Our ‘Wang Nilai CNY’ initiative with HATI makes it possible for us to bring some festive cheer to those who may be alone or facing challenges.  It’s wonderful to see how much joy this programme has generated.”

Goh added that with the support of the people at HATI, MR D.I.Y. was also able to bring the joy of the CNY season to 12 other charitable homes across the country.  

“Thanks to the team at HATI as well as our MR D.I.Y. Cares team, we were able to make a difference to the residents of these homes. We hope that by doing so, we won’t just make a positive impact but also inspire other corporates to do the same. Together, we can make a real difference.”
