Global apparel retailer UNIQLO recently demonstrated its ongoing commitment to community welfare by organizing special activities for underprivileged children from local orphanages in Malaysia, as part of the Raya festivities.
In a gesture of goodwill, UNIQLO extended its hospitality to 15 children from Pertubuhan Rumah Anak Yatim Daerah Kuala Muda (PRAYDKM) in Sungai Petani. Each child was allocated a budget of RM 150 to shop for their favorite items at the newly opened store at Aman Jaya. This initiative allowed the children to select clothing and accessories that resonated with their personal preferences, thereby fostering a sense of empowerment and inclusion.
Mohamad Fakhiran Bin Mohamad Ridzuan, caretaker of PRAYDKM, expressed gratitude for UNIQLO's initiative, highlighting the invaluable learning opportunity it provided to the children. Through this experience, the children gained practical insights into retail operations and the significance of customer service, which are essential skills for their future endeavors.
Meanwhile, 16 children aged between 8 and 16 from Rumah Anak Yatim dan Asnaf Baitun Nurrawdhah, Ampang, were treated to a unique experience at UNIQLO The Exchange TRX store. They participated in a creative design workshop facilitated by Malaysian artist Eureka. During the workshop, the children received UNIQLO T-shirts to personalize and engaged in UTme! printing sessions with Eureka, allowing them to unleash their creativity and produce unique designs for the festive season.
Hafifah Ismail, caretaker of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Rumah Anak Yatim Baitul Nurrawdhah, expressed heartfelt appreciation for UNIQLO and Malaysian artist Eureka for providing such a memorable opportunity to the children. The experience not only brought joy and inspiration but also instilled in the children a sense of their own potential and the kindness of others.
Evelyn Tan, Director of Legal, Sustainability, and Corporate PR at UNIQLO Malaysia, emphasized the company's commitment to giving back to the community and spreading happiness, especially during special occasions like Raya. Witnessing the smiles on the children's faces as they shopped and experienced the joy of picking out new clothes was a heartwarming moment for the UNIQLO team.
The Raya shopping experiences are just one aspect of UNIQLO's broader commitment to positively impacting communities in Malaysia. Moving forward, UNIQLO remains dedicated to engaging in initiatives that support local communities and the underprivileged, aligning with its core values of social responsibility and creating a better world for future generations.
