Nestlé Malaysia reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to uplifting Malaysian communities by marking the 10th anniversary of its Back-to-School program. Launched as a pilot in Selangor in 2015, it has grown into a nationwide effort reaching more than 16,300 underprivileged children across Malaysia. Through this decade-long partnership with NGO Empire Project, the program has provided essential school supplies and food products to ease the burden on families from underserved communities, ensuring every child begins the school year ready, well equipped to learn and thrive.

This year, to kickstart the nationwide distribution, 164 students in Perlis received items such as school bags, uniforms, shoes and Nestlé family packs including MILO, EVERYDAY, MAGGI, NESTUM, and NESTLÉ Breakfast Cereals during a meaningful handover ceremony graced by Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, the Crown Prince of Perlis.
YM Raja Nurmaria Murni, Executive Director of Group Corporate Affairs, Nestlé Malaysia shared that the milestone reflects Nestlé’s purpose of making a positive difference in communities, “Supporting children’s education is one of the most meaningful ways we can help build stronger communities and a brighter future for the nation. Reflecting our purpose to enhance the quality of life for all, it is heartening to see how together with Empire Project, we have reached more than 16,300 students over the past decade to date. This milestone demonstrates that even small acts of care can create a lasting impact, and we look forward to many more years of partnership to benefit communities in need.”
For the Empire Project, the collaboration represents a shared journey of purpose. Mr. Mohd Ashraff Khan, Founder of Empire Project commented, “When we first started working with Nestlé, our goal was simply to help children be better prepared to do well at school. A decade later, seeing how this initiative has touched so many young lives reminds us of the power of collective effort and how much we can achieve when we come together for the community.”
En. Mofizam Bin Mat Russ, Headmaster of SK Panggau, Perlis, which was a beneficiary of this year’s Back-to-School program, added, “For many families here, it’s not easy to afford everything their children need for school. The support from Nestlé and Empire Project makes a real difference. Along with lightening the parents’ load by providing much-needed school supplies, it also motivates our students to start the school year with confidence.”
The Back-to-School initiative, a flagship event of Nestlé Sayang Komuniti volunteerism platform, empowers employees to support community and environmental projects. Thanks to their dedication, the program continues to make a difference in schools and communities nationwide. For over 112 years in Malaysia, we remain committed to delivering nutritious, high-quality halal products made in Malaysia, by Malaysians, for Malaysians while championing sustainability and giving back to those most in need.
In preparation for the 2026 school year, the Back-to-School program is set to reach more than 2,000 students nationwide with over 100 Nestlé Sayang Komuniti volunteers involved in the packing and distribution of school supplies for families in need.
