What began as a joyous welcome-back celebration for nearly 200 Multimedia University (MMU) students nearly ended in hungry disappointment last night — until an unexpected ‘Emergency Pizza’ rescue from Domino’s transformed the evening.
When the Malam Sinergi MMU event ran out of food, organisers from the University Peer Group (UPG) faced a crisis: the crowd was still buzzing, but there was nothing left to serve — and their food budget had run dry.
“We were panicking. The crowd was here, the vibes were good, but we had nothing left to feed them,” said a UPG organiser.
Desperate, one committee member suggested calling Domino’s. The request sounded far-fetched, but in just 20 minutes a convoy of ten Domino’s delivery riders rolled in — carrying over 100 fresh pizzas, free of charge. Laughter replaced grumbles, and smartphones lit up as videos of the rescue began going viral on TikTok and Instagram.
“It was surreal — everyone went from tired and hungry to cheering and smiling. It’s going to be one of those stories we tell for years,” said one attendee.
Domino’s Malaysia explained that this was part of their “Emergency Pizza” initiative — stepping in when people face sudden food shortages or unexpected emergencies, providing comfort precisely when it’s least expected as a way to thank Malaysians for their support.
For the organisers, it turned a stressful moment into a reminder of community spirit.
“It wasn’t just about the pizzas — it was about how quickly people can come together to help,” said the UPG team.
