In welcoming the Year of the Horse, Shah Alam Central i-City unveils a month-long Chinese New Year celebration themed “Circus of Fortune”, transforming the mall into a vibrant meeting point of tradition, creativity, and community spirit.

Running from 23 January to 23 February 2026, the celebration blends classic Chinese New Year symbolism with playful Western circus elements, creating an immersive festive environment designed to appeal to families, culture enthusiasts, and shoppers alike. The concept reflects Central i-City’s ongoing commitment to inclusive cultural programming—where heritage is honoured while modern interpretations are embraced.
An Auspicious Theme with Contemporary Energy

The theme “Circus of Fortune” carries layered meaning. Beyond the joyful imagery of a circus, it symbolises blessings, prosperity, and good fortune coming full circle—values deeply rooted in Chinese New Year traditions.
This year’s celebration places special emphasis on the Horse, a zodiac sign associated with strength, vitality, perseverance, and success. In a first-time collaboration with NEKOJIN Workshop, Central i-City introduces a festive installation featuring eight horses, accompanied by the workshop’s signature cat characters—adding a whimsical yet culturally meaningful touch.
Adding to the festive narrative is the debut of “Mani”, a newly created character for the Year of the Horse. Phonetically echoing the word “money”, Mani symbolises abundance, prosperity, and positive fortune—values central to the season’s celebrations.
Shah Alam’s Biggest Cultural Bazaar Returns
One of the most anticipated highlights is the return of Shah Alam’s largest cultural bazaar, taking place from 31 January to 15 February. The bazaar will feature a wide array of stalls offering festive foods, traditional delicacies, and Chinese New Year-themed merchandise.
The bazaar serves as both a shopping destination and a cultural gathering point, encouraging visitors to immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere while supporting local vendors and taking home meaningful seasonal items.
A Celebration Rooted in Community Collaboration
This year marks the third consecutive year of collaboration between Central i-City and community organisations Taste of Klang and Komuniti Tunas KL & Selangor, reinforcing the mall’s role as a platform for community-driven cultural engagement.
The Grand Opening Ceremony, scheduled for 31 January at 11.30am, will be officiated by YB Quah Perng Fei, Bandar Baru Klang State Assemblyman, alongside Dato’ Haji Mohd Fauzi bin Haji Mohd Yatim, Mayor of Shah Alam. Festivities will commence with a traditional lion dance performance, followed by a Chinese Calligraphy Competition at 2pm—symbolising wisdom, artistry, and auspicious beginnings.
Family-Friendly Programmes and Cultural Performances

From 1 February onwards, Central i-City’s main stage will host a series of cultural performances and interactive competitions catering to all age groups. A key highlight is the Diabolo Competition, held daily from 10am to 5pm, an annual event that continues to grow in participation, particularly among school communities.
Children-centric programmes take centre stage on 7 February, with a Chinese New Year Greeting Card Colouring Contest from 3pm to 6pm, followed by a Chinese Traditional Costume Kids’ Fashion Show—activities designed to foster creativity, cultural appreciation, and family bonding.
Celebrating Creativity and Cultural Expression
The Cultural Dance Competition on 8 February (12pm–6pm) invites participants from primary schools and the general public to showcase traditional dance forms while competing for attractive prizes. The event also serves as a platform for cultural preservation through performance.
Creativity continues with the Yee Sang Decoration Competition on 14 February (12pm–3pm), where participants will transform Yee Sang using fresh fruits and vegetables—turning a traditional dish into a canvas of artistic expression.
Additional Colouring Contests on 15 February at 11am and 3.30pm ensure younger visitors remain engaged, with on-the-spot registration available.
A Grand Musical Finale
Bringing the celebration to a close is Central i-City’s first-ever Golden Classic Chinese New Year Singing Competition, scheduled for 22 February at 12pm. The competition promises a nostalgic and celebratory finale, uniting music lovers and performers in a joyful conclusion to the festive month.
Festive Rewards for Shoppers
In keeping with the season of generosity, shoppers can enjoy exclusive festive redemptions, including angpow packets, prosperity tote bags, lucky travel cases, and premium reunion ceramics, with spending tiers ranging from RM188 to RM5,888.
