Ecosystem services are the benefits and services we obtain from the ecosystem that are vital for our well-being such as climate regulation, recreation and the provision of food, medicinal resources and fresh water.
The ‘Eyes on Fraser’s Hill’ Photography Contest was initiated by WWF-Malaysia, partnering with Tourism Pahang and Nikon Malaysia to highlight the importance of ecosystem services in Malaysia . It aims to increase public awareness and understanding of the ecosystem services provided by Fraser’s Hill and the importance of protecting the area.
The contest is open until 12 February 2017. To participate, you need to take beautiful and creative photos that are related to ecosystem services (eg. flora, fauna, landscape, people etc.) in Fraser’s Hill. It is important that all entries for the ‘Eyes on Fraser’s Hill’ photography contest only feature photos that are taken in Fraser’s Hill within the contest period, without altering the natural state of the environment and its wildlife.
The next step is to submit your best photo in high-resolution format together with an interesting caption; the caption should be relevant to any one of the ecosystem services and its importance in 30 words. All entries must be accompanied with the photographer’s full name, identity card number, contact number, email address, date and location of the photo taken. Email your entries to my.protectedareas@wwf.panda.org by 12 February 2017. In addition, if you share your photo(s) on FB or Instagram and use hashtag #wwfmy #tourismpahang #nikonmalaysia #eyesonfrasershill, you will receive bonus marks!
