Energizer Shop in the Dark 2017 wraps up with a big bang

The ten finalists of the Energizer ‘Shop In The Dark’ 2017 campaign proved themselves the best at shopping in the dark and won themselves an eight-minute shopping spree bonus worth up to RM3,500 each at the grand finale today at MYDIN USJ, Subang.

Following the overwhelming response from last year’s Energizer ‘Shop In The Dark’ campaign, Energizer in partnership with MYDIN, called for entry submissions for the Energizer ‘Shop In The Dark’ 2017 campaign throughout April and May. To reach out to a wider audience of MYDIN shoppers and Energizer users across the nation, Energizer introduced three different methods of entry submissions which included a series of Virtual Reality (VR) challenge roadshows, mail-in entries and a Facebook digital content. The VR challenge roadshows added a different twist to shopping in the dark by using a VR machine and was held across four states – Selangor, Penang, Negeri Sembilan and Johor in May.

“We received overwhelming response from across Peninsular Malaysia and we want to thank Energizer users and MYDIN shoppers for their support and for choosing Energizer for their lighting and power solutions. This is our second year organising the Energizer ‘Shop In The Dark’ campaign in partnership with MYDIN. The introduction of the virtual reality element to the ‘Shop In The Dark’ 2017 challenge at selected MYDIN stores provided an entirely new and challenging experience of shopping in the dark. We want to congratulate the ten teams of finalists today. Our finalists enjoyed the benefit of our Energizer Max batteries that are now 8x longer-lasting throughout their fun and exciting shopping spree in the dark within MYDIN,” shared Mr Lee Kim Chye, Energizer’s Business Director (Malaysia and Singapore).

“MYDIN is thrilled to be a part of this interactive campaign for our shoppers and Energizer users in collaboration with Energizer once more. MYDIN and Energizer have been working very closely for more than 30 years and the ‘Shop In The Dark’ 2017 campaign continues our long-standing business partnership in a way that everyone can enjoy,” said Datuk Wira (Dr) Haji Ameer Ali Mydin, Managing Director of MYDIN, the largest and among the most established Malaysian-owned retailers involved in wholesale and retail business.

The ten finalists selected for the grand finale of the Energizer ‘Shop In The Dark’ 2017 campaign consist of four winners from the roadshow challenges, five winners from the mail-in entries and one winner from the Facebook contest. They were treated to an eight-minute shopping spree bonus worth up to RM3,500 each and took to the darkened aisles of MYDIN USJ, Subang Jaya with their shopping carts and Energizer headlamps. Energizer batteries, groceries and other products flew off the shelves as winners loaded up their shopping carts with anything they wanted, subject to pre-imposed restrictions and rules. At the end of their shopping spree, the items in the shopping cart were paid in full up to RM3,500 by Energizer.

I enjoy shopping and the Energizer ‘Shop In The Dark’ 2017 campaign lets me do what I love with the added challenge and fun of doing it in the dark. It was hard identifying the correct aisles and items at first but thanks to the Energizer headlamps and Energizer Max batteries, I was able to find my way through the MYDIN hypermarket,” said finalist Mohd Fariq Bin Salehudin from Ampang, Selangor who together with his teammate walked away with a total of RM3,500 worth of products.
