Following a successful collaboration with the Malaysia Dodgeball Federation (MDF), this year’s Wishing Tree campaign adopted the “Knock Your Socks Off” concept where a number of teambuilding games and dodgeball spin-off games were introduced to the children.
“The Wishing Tree initiative has stayed in our calendar for the past 14 years and we have no intention to remove it due to the satisfaction we get when we see the smiles on the children’s face upon having their wishes fulfilled. The heartwarming experience is certainly the motivation that keeps this special campaign annually,” said Kennie Thong, Local Store Marketing Manager of Berjaya Roasters (M) Sdn. Bhd.
The visit also saw several representatives from the MDF team joining in to spend time and spread the love to the underprivileged children as well as exposing them to the emerging game of dodgeball.
“Every year, we try to expand our reach to more homes and fulfill the wishes as many children as we can. This year, we are happy to report that we have fulfilled 1,600 wishes from 44 non-government organizations (NGOs) nationwide! Not forgetting, we have KRR meal contributions throughout the year, in line with our efforts to provide basic necessities such as wholesome meals for the needy,” she added.
“The Wishing Tree campaign is a great initiative by the KRR team for us to do good and spend some time with the team. Such events help inspire and motivate the team to work harder to bring our country’s name to greater heights and also expand the reach of the sport to more people,” says Muhamad Heidy bin Mohd Yusoff, Coach of the Malaysia Dodgeball Federation
To date, the KRR Community Chest Wishing Tree initiative has fulfilled more than 20,000 simple yet meaningful wishes.
The public is welcomed to partake in this campaign which runs until end December 2018 by visiting any KRR restaurant and select a ‘Wishing Card’ by the children without any limit to the number of wishes to be granted. Gifts may be wrapped and brought back to the respective KRR restaurants, which will then be delivered to the respective NGOs.
