The discount - valid from 17 August to 17 September 2020, aims to encourage more people to explore Malaysia and discover more of her people, culture and food.

To enjoy the discount, guests need to enter the promo code OYOMERDEKA63 when making their booking. The discount is applicable at more than 500+ properties in all 13 states in Malaysia, as well as the federal territories of Labuan, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. It is valid for bookings made using the OYO Website or its Android, iOS and Windows apps. Bookings made using the promotion cannot be modified and cancellation charges are applicable per the OYO policy. The offer also cannot be combined with any other offer.

Tan Ming Luk, Country Head, Malaysia & Singapore, OYO Hotels & Homes said while Malaysia is a smorgasbord of arts, culture, cuisine and nature weaved into a rich tapestry that stretches from Perlis to Sabah, only a small number of citizens and residents have explored the country to the fullest.

“There’s so much to see, experience and do in Malaysia. While it’s always a good time to see and discover new places and spaces, Merdeka and Malaysia Day offer an added incentive for us to see for ourselves what’s available in our own country and appreciate how far we’ve come as a nation.”

He adds, “OYO’s success in Malaysia is due to the support we received from our guests and also partners. Three and a half years ago, the people warmly welcomed us into this beautiful country. More than three and a half years later, we have grown to become a significant partner in the country’s tourism industry. With more than 22,000 rooms in almost all cities and towns in Malaysia, we are ready to welcome everyone and extend our brand of Malaysian hospitality to guests who stay with us.”

Welcoming the initiative from OYO, Dato’ Dr Ammar Abd. Ghapar, Senior Director, Domestic & Events Division at Tourism Malaysia said there’s something for everyone in Malaysia and Tourism Malaysia would like to welcome more people to explore the country and discover what it has to offer.

He adds, “With industry players like OYO offering good discounts, there’s no better time for locals to acquaint and re-acquaint themselves with Malaysia. With so much to see and do in the country, there’s something for everyone here in Malaysia. I would like to invite everyone in the country to use this opportunity to Kenali (Get to know) Malaysia and support the local tourism ecosystem. I would also like to urge others to follow OYO’s lead in supporting the domestic tourism industry in Malaysia.”

“Before Covid-19. an estimated 14.2 mil outbound trips from Malaysia were estimated for 2021. (Source: Mastercard). If half of those travelling abroad were to holiday in Malaysia this year, we would see a faster recovery of the tourism industry in Malaysia,” concluded Dato’ Dr Ammar.

While OYO continues to lead efforts to drive more people to discover the country, the safety of guests and visitors remains an utmost priority, at all times. To that end, OYO recently launched Sanitized Stays, a comprehensive hygiene protocol to step up vigilance measures pre- and post-check-in and throughout the customer journey to curb any potential spread of Covid-19.
