29th SPASTIC Fun Run: Now Open for Registration November 17th at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur

 The 29th SPASTIC Fun Run, organized by the Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor & Federal Territory (SCAS & FT) in collaboration with various NGOs, with KDK as the main sponsor and 988 as the official radio station, will take place on November 17th, 2024, at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur. The event, formerly known as the Walk-Jog-Wheel-A-Thon, has been rebranded as the SPASTIC Fun Run to attract a broader audience and foster a more inclusive environment.

Founded in 1960, SCAS & FT launched the first Walk-Jog-Wheel-A-Thon on July 30th, 1994, aiming to create a collaborative fundraising platform for nonprofits and raise public awareness about the needs of vulnerable communities. In this 29th edition, the event name has been simplified to SPASTIC Fun Run to make it easier for participants to remember. The slogan for this year is "Your Contribution = Their Hope.”

Proceeds from this year’s event will support SCAS & FT’s facility upgrades, including physiotherapy equipment, classroom improvements, and more skill development courses for children. The funds will also contribute to the association’s new building construction fund, helping to enhance the center’s support for disabled individuals.

This year’s event will feature the traditional 2 km walk & Wheelchair alongside the disabled, with exciting new additions such as a 5 km public run and a 10 km competitive race.

Registration is now open at Heyjom with participation fees set at RM 40 for the 2 km walk, RM 55 for the 5 km run, and RM 65 for the 10 km race. Registration closes on October 15th. All participants will receive a T-shirt, e-certificate, and a finisher’s medal, with cash prizes, trophies, and rewards of up to RM 500 available for the top finishers of the 10 km race.

The organizers aim to attract 4,000 participants from both the disabled and general public to promote awareness and societal support. Companies, nonprofits, and corporations are encouraged to participate, allowing more organizations to raise funds and support those in need.

The Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor & Federal Territory was established in 1960 to improve the quality of life of children with cerebral palsy.
