MAGGI® Brings Communities and Young Malaysians Together to Preserve the Bubur Lambuk Tradition This Ramadan

Across Malaysia, Bubur Lambuk has long been a defining symbol of Ramadan — prepared in communal pots and shared in the spirit of togetherness. As a trusted kitchen companion amongst Malaysians for more than 50 years, MAGGI® has supported this cherished tradition nationwide.

In 2026, this meaningful commitment continues through MAGGI® Bubur Lambuk Berkat Setempat, uniting mosques, neighbourhood associations, universities and local organisations to prepare and distribute over 400,000 bowls of Bubur Lambuk across more than 300 locations nationwide. Rooted in the values of compassion and generosity, the initiative reflects MAGGI®’s enduring belief in giving back to the communities it has long served.

“At Nestlé Malaysia, we believe our brands have the responsibilities to stay close to the communities that have supported us for generations,” said Juan Aranols, Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Malaysia. “The Bubur Lambuk tradition reflects the values of togetherness, care and generosity that are deeply rooted among Malaysians. Through initiatives such as MAGGI® Bubur Lambuk Berkat Setempat, we hope to continue supporting local communities while encouraging younger generations to take part in carrying forward this meaningful tradition.”

Beyond contributing ingredients, MAGGI® provides trusted flavour solutions and practical cooking support to ensure large-scale preparations are carried out smoothly while preserving the distinctive regional character of Bubur Lambuk. Made tastier and more convenient with MAGGI® CukupRasa™, the recipe enhances flavour and ensures consistency — especially important when cooking in large quantities. From preparation to distribution before iftar, each pot reflects the collective spirit of Ramadan.

This year, the initiative expands to selected universities including Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), alongside collaborations with women’s associations such as PUSPANITA, Suri Rumah Rahmah (SRR) and Penerokawati. By involving students and community women’s groups in large-scale cooking and distribution efforts, MAGGI® helps keep the tradition alive across generations while giving younger participants valuable exposure to its cultural significance.

“Student participation in initiatives like this offers a very meaningful experience for them,” said Puan Aishah Azizi, Head of the Bubur Lambuk Cooking Team at Masjid UPM. “It goes beyond preparing Bubur Lambuk — it gives young people the opportunity to understand the values of community cooperation, appreciate long-standing traditions, and carry forward cultural practices that are deeply rooted in our society. We appreciate MAGGI® for empowering the next generation to help keep this tradition alive.”

Retailer partnerships with Segi Fresh and Econsave further support ingredient sourcing and community engagement, enabling preparations to be carried out effectively at scale while expanding the initiative’s reach to more communities — bringing warmth and nourishment to even more people during Ramadan.

To amplify these efforts, MAGGI® is shining a light on Bubur Lambuk cook-ups nationwide, highlighting participating locations and the scale of preparations while spotlighting dedicated cooks, volunteers and community members behind every pot, celebrating the shared spirit that makes Ramadan meaningful.

For MAGGI®, Bubur Lambuk symbolises unity, generosity and the simple act of sharing.

“The Bubur Lambuk tradition reflects the spirit of togetherness and community cooperation that is deeply rooted among Malaysians,” said Ivy Tan Link Cheh, Business Executive Officer of MAGGI® Malaysia. “Through this initiative, MAGGI® has the opportunity to work hand in hand with communities across the country to preserve this tradition. Here today at PPR HICOM, we are honoured to collaborate with community partners to prepare and distribute 1,800 bowls of Bubur Lambuk to local residents. We hope initiatives like this not only support communities in meaningful ways, but also inspire younger generations to carry the tradition forward.”

Beyond community kitchens, MAGGI®’s Ramadan initiatives also extend into everyday homes through simple sahur, iftar and Raya recipes designed to inspire confidence in home cooking while supporting families during the festive season.

Through its nationwide Bubur Lambuk activations, digital engagement initiatives and continued support for both community and home cooks, MAGGI® reinforces its role at the heart of Ramadan cooking in Malaysia. From community kitchens to home stoves, MAGGI® remains present in every moment of giving, sharing and cooking this Ramadan.
