GoRental Global Demonstrates Viability of Portable Battery Power at Outdoor Expo Malaysia 2026

 GoRental Global has successfully powered Outdoor Expo Malaysia 2026, demonstrating how portable battery energy storage systems (BESS) can reliably support one of Malaysia’s largest outdoor exhibitions while advancing the adoption of cleaner temporary energy solutions across the region.

The three-day deployment culminated in GoRental receiving an ASEAN Record for the Largest Outdoor Exhibition Powered End-to-End by Portable Battery Energy Storage Systems. The recognition was presented to GoRental Managing Director Colin Peh by Yang Berhormat Hannah Yeoh, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department for Federal Territories, during the event’s closing programme on 9 August 2026.

Held from 7 to 9 August 2026 at Titiwangsa Stadium, Outdoor Expo Malaysia welcomed thousands of outdoor enthusiasts, families, exhibitors and industry players for three days of exhibitions, product launches, educational talks, outdoor demonstrations and interactive experiences.

Throughout the event, GoRental provided the temporary power infrastructure supporting the exhibition’s operations, enabling key event facilities and activities to run reliably using portable battery energy storage systems as an alternative to conventional diesel-powered generators.

Across the exhibition, GoRental deployed 67 portable battery energy storage systems to power 48 open-air booths over 36 operating hours. The systems provided an estimated 992.16 kWh of clean energy over the three-day event, providing the temporary energy infrastructure needed to support event operations without relying solely on conventional diesel-powered generators.

The deployment is estimated to have avoided approximately 297.65 litres of diesel and 803.65 kg CO₂e compared with conventional diesel-generated power. The estimates are based on a diesel-generator baseline consumption of 0.30 litres per kWh and a diesel emission factor of 2.70 kg CO₂e per litre. The systems deployed comply with ISO 20121:2012, ISO 9001, CE and SGS standards, underscoring GoRental’s focus on quality, safety and sustainable operations.The deployment also demonstrated how battery-powered temporary energy can create quieter, lower-emission and more inclusive event environments. According to GoRental, its battery-powered model can also reduce temporary power costs by up to 30% compared with conventional diesel-generator arrangements.

“Outdoor Expo Malaysia was an important opportunity to demonstrate that portable battery energy storage systems can reliably support a major event while offering benefits that go beyond sustainability,” said Colin Peh, Managing Director of GoRental Global.

“Compared with diesel generators, battery systems can help reduce noise, eliminate on-site exhaust emissions and lower temporary power costs by up to 30%. This creates a cleaner and more comfortable environment for exhibitors, visitors, workers and nearby communities. We hope this project can encourage event organisers and government stakeholders to make battery-powered temporary energy a more common standard for events in Malaysia.”

For Outdoor Expo Malaysia, the deployment also provided an opportunity to demonstrate how new energy solutions can be integrated into a large-scale event without compromising operational requirements or the visitor experience.

“Running a large-scale outdoor event requires a power solution that we can depend on throughout the entire programme, so reliability was always our first consideration,” said Fathee Razali, Founder of Outdoor Expo Malaysia.

“What this deployment demonstrated is that we can achieve that reliability while also reducing noise, emissions and the operational impact associated with conventional diesel generators. If cleaner temporary power can be deployed successfully across an event of this scale, there is a real opportunity for more organisers in Malaysia to rethink how their events are powered without compromising the experience for exhibitors or visitors.”

The ASEAN Record recognised the scale of the deployment, including 67 portable battery energy storage systems providing an estimated 992.16 kWh of clean energy over 36 operating hours across 48 open-air exhibition booths. Based on a conventional diesel-generator baseline, the deployment is estimated to have avoided approximately 297.65 litres of diesel and 803.65 kg CO₂e over the three-day event.

GoRental’s temporary power infrastructure supported an extensive programme of outdoor adventure showcases, climbing demonstrations, survival workshops, product launches, educational talks, family attractions and live stage performances throughout the exhibition.

The deployment forms part of GoRental’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in Malaysia while expanding across Southeast Asia and global markets. Beyond demonstrating commercial viability, the company hopes the project will encourage event organisers, government agencies and industry stakeholders to consider portable battery energy storage systems as a practical alternative to diesel generators.

By reducing generator noise, on-site emissions and fuel-related operating costs, GoRental believes battery systems can help organisers create more comfortable and inclusive environments for exhibitors, workers, families and surrounding communities while maintaining the reliability required for large-scale events.

Outdoor Expo Malaysia represents one of GoRental’s key regional showcases as the company builds its commercial presence in Malaysia. The project provides a working case study of how portable battery systems can be deployed across complex, high-traffic environments where dependable temporary power is essential.

Building on the deployment, GoRental plans to work with event organisers, government agencies, businesses and industry partners to accelerate the adoption of portable battery energy storage systems across events, campsites, construction sites, commercial operations and critical infrastructure.

The company’s Malaysia strategy will combine commercial deployments with community-focused programmes, including the planned expansion of its Power to Empower movement. Through both approaches, GoRental aims to demonstrate how portable clean energy can support economic activity, improve access to power and reduce dependence on diesel-based temporary infrastructure.
